Filming and photographing plastic cleanup
On set.
This spring, Optimar again was out on Store Kalvøy nearby Ålesund to clean up plastic from the shores and the ocean. This is something initiated by “Plastfritt Hav” and has big importance for both local and worldwide environment.
My task this day, was to capture as much as I could through video and photos for Optimar. Fortunately the weather was “super nice”, but there was quite much wind. So the drone barely made it up in the air just once. But enough to get an image from above.

Interviews with Optimar
On set.
Maybe this sounds boring for many of you. But in my opinion, filming interviews is one of the most fun parts in film- and videomaking.
There are so many technical aspects to it, regarding lighting, view angles and audio.
In this case, I full garded with two B-cams on the shadow side of the subject. One on a slider and one on a tripod. We ended up using the slider shot, which was quite low-angled, but which gave a nice effect.

One step further with the Sony FX3.
Creative skills and co-operation with the client are the most important aspects of imagemaking for great results. But the demand for superior technical image quality is increasing. I will from now be able to deliver 10-bit 4.2.2 and 4K 120 file quality. This makes post-processing easier and the creative vision is easier to fulfill.
With the Sony FX3, I will be able to rig out the camera for different types of environments. Full rig for bigger productions, smaller on a gimbal or just as small as the body and a lens.
I prefer filming and editing on myself, but if clients need only a DP to do the job and deliver the files, I guess this will be very welcome.
Looking forward to talk to you :)
YouTube | A new era
To progress and learn how to make content for the businesses out there, I am now joining YouTube in a more personal way. The need for content is still growing, which demands a certain understanding of how this works. I think joining the party myself as a photographer and videographer, is one way to do this. I will post content circled around the base of imagery, but with different stories and angles. All in the matter of putting the work in to make better content.

I will never forget the first time I was asked to film a wedding. It was all the way back in 2004 when I was 24 years old and went to college. I bought my first camera in 1997, which was an analogue Sony Handycam. Those wore absolute magic times. I had dreamt of having my own video camera for a long time, but it was always out of reach. My father had an old small film camera which he had shot his own wedding with, and some of our childhood. It was the best when he brought out the projector and mounted the film rolls, turned out the lights, pulled the curtains in front of the windows and pushed “play”. That sound. That sound of film rolling from one roll to another. It was magical. So when I got my own video camera, I could film whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted.
That camera lasted for six years up till 2003 when I bought my first Sony DV Camcorder. The new possibilities were “endless” with this digital format. The video quality was that good at the time, that it was worthy a wedding. I was asked by a friend couple to do this job, but I took it seriously. Really seriously. The groom also lent me his camera, so I was operating two cameras from two different angles at once. In church I had one behind the priest and one on the gallery above. It was stressful, but I loved it. The shooting went on from the morning to late night.
Now I had x amount of hours with raw material to edit down to two different DVDs. One long DVD with all the speeches, and one shorter DVD to show others than the closest family. But first, all movie clips had to be transferred to my PC. With Fire Wire cable, in real time. WOW. That took a long time. I don`t have to tell more about that now, but as you can understand, it was kind of a process.
So, when my brother in law and now sister in law got married, I pulled up my camera with now expectations from them and filmed as the day went by. Of course, my head worked all day to plan next shot, but my mirrorless camera made it so much easier. At least thinking of the editing process afterwards. It is still a great job to be done, but all the transferring and converting of files now is a whole other story.
So the day resulted in this highlight film from the wedding day. No lights, no external mics, no second shooters. Just me and my one camera from the hips.

Drone footage
Drone footage and images.
After many years of video and photography as a hobby, I have slowly started as a professional photographer. Last year was by far the most interesting so far regarding taking small steps into the world of photography and videography for real. Of course gadget isn’t all, but it’s still quite important to catch the images you want.
2020 was a year of mostly video for businesses, but also some photography. My goal is fifty-fifty, because photography supports videography and vise versa.
In 2021 I will also offer my help of delivering drone footage and photos. I will mostly use drone for making the result more interesting and pleasing, but I will of course also shoot just from the drone for those who have those needs.
